Skin Treatment
Advanced Facials
Professional-grade skincare, matched to your skin.
Advanced facials sit between a spa facial and a procedural treatment — using professional-grade products and structured, concern-led protocols to improve skin quality, without the downtime of injectables or energy-based treatments. They're targeted rather than generic: booked around your skin's primary concern, not a one-size "freshen up." The right protocol is matched to your skin and your goals at consultation.

HOW IT WORKS
More than a spa facial
The word "facial" covers an enormous range, from relaxation-led spa treatments to structured, results-focused protocols using professional-grade actives. Most facials sold at premium prices sit in the middle: pleasant and well-presented, but limited in what they actually change.
An advanced facial is different. Our protocols use professional-only product ranges, with active concentrations and formulations not available in retail or spa settings and follow structured approaches designed for specific concerns: acne, rosacea, pigmentation, dehydration, menopausal skin change, fine lines. The aim is genuine, measurable improvement in skin quality, not just an hour of pampering (though the experience is a good one).
To be clear about what this is: an advanced facial is a professional skincare treatment, not a medical procedure. It works at and near the surface of the skin. Where a concern needs deeper or structural work, we'll say so, and point you to the right treatment.

THE TWO RANGES WE USE
A concern-led approach
Rather than a single "house facial," we work from a range of professional protocols, each suited to a different concern, so what you receive is matched to your skin rather than sold off a menu.
We select the range and protocol based on your skin type, sensitivities, primary concern and wider treatment plan. Patients new to advanced facials usually have one recommended at consultation; longer-term patients often move between protocols as their skin's needs change through the seasons, life stages, or alongside other treatments.
Common protocol focuses include:
- Hydration and radiance — for dehydrated, dull or tired skin, and pre-event preparation
- Calming and barrier support — for sensitive, reactive, rosacea-prone or redness-prone skin
- Blemish and congestion — for acne-prone and congested skin
- Brightening — for uneven tone, pigmentation and sun damage
- Firming and mature skin — supporting skin through elasticity loss and hormonal change, including perimenopause and menopause
- Post-procedure support — calming and conditioning skin after microneedling, peels or injectables
Some protocols are avoided during pregnancy; others are among the few skin treatments that remain suitable, we'll always confirm what's appropriate for you at consultation.
WHO IT'S FOR
Who advanced facials are right for
Well-suited if you are:
Looking for visible improvement in skin quality through a non-procedural, low-friction treatment
Addressing a specific concern — acne, rosacea, pigmentation, fine lines, dehydration, mature-skin change, that benefits from a targeted protocol
Pregnant and unable to have most aesthetic procedures (some facial protocols remain suitable and we'll advise)
Recovering from a procedure and wanting supportive, conditioning treatment
Building a long-term skin care plan and wanting regular maintenance between bigger treatments
New to clinical skin care and looking for a substantive starting point
Preparing for an occasion — facials are particularly effective 5–10 days beforehand
may not be the right primary treatment if:
You're focused on structural change (skin laxity, lifting, volume), these need treatments like Sofwave
You need deep regenerative work for significant scarring or texture concerns. This is where microneedling, PRP or laser may be more appropriate
You expect dramatic single-session transformation. Advanced facials produce real, visible improvement but work best across courses
You have active skin infections, open lesions, sunburn or compromised skin barrier, these need addressing first
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before, during and after
Before
Consultation & assessment
First-time patients begin with a brief consultation to identify the right protocol and any sensitivities. For longer-term patients we typically include Observ 520x imaging on the first treatment to track progress. No special preparation is needed, come with clean skin, and tell us about any prescription topicals or recent treatments so we can adjust timing or protocol.
During
The session
A typical facial runs 60 minutes: consultation and cleansing, an exfoliation and active phase, a core treatment phase of targeted serums, masks or complexes suited to your protocol, often with facial massage or lymphatic work, and a finish with protective actives, SPF and home-care guidance. Some protocols are deeply relaxing (many patients fall asleep); others are more functional, focused on getting results into the skin efficiently.
After
Recovery
Skin typically looks clearer, brighter and more hydrated immediately, with a mild flush possible for up to an hour, no bumps, no bruising, no downtime. Many patients find their skin looks its best the following day. Single-session effects settle over a couple of weeks; on a course, improvements compound across sessions.
RESULTS
What results actually look like
Advanced facials produce real but measured improvement — they're consistency treatments, not transformation treatments. Used regularly, alongside good home care, they meaningfully improve skin quality over months. Most patients see improved hydration and glow, smoother texture, calmer and less reactive skin, better tone and clarity, and softened fine lines, depending on the protocol.
A single facial gives immediate brightness and hydration. A course of six, typically every four weeks, delivers visible compounding improvement in the primary concern, usually apparent by the third or fourth session. Monthly or bi-monthly maintenance then sustains and continues the work.
Single session
Immediate brightness, hydration, settled inflammation; effects largely return to baseline in 2 weeks
Course of 6 (every 4 weeks)
Visible, compounding improvements in primary concern; meaningful change typically apparent by sessions 3–4
Ongoing maintenance
Monthly or bi-monthly facials maintain the work and continue improving skin quality over time
THE HONEST PART
What clinical facials won't do
We use these protocols because they work, but only as part of an appropriate plan, with realistic expectations.
They won't replace procedural treatments, facials work at and near the surface, and don't produce the structural change of microneedling, the tightening of Sofwave, or the regenerative effect of PRP. Single sessions aren't transformational; real change comes from regular use across a course. And they're not a substitute for good skincare, a monthly facial with poor home care delivers meaningfully less than the same facial alongside a sensible daily routine. For significant concerns such as severe acne, deep scarring, marked laxity or persistent pigmentation, a facial alone won't be the answer, and we'll be honest about what a broader plan should look like.

COMBINE WITH
Treatments that combine well
with Clinical Facials

LED Light Therapy
LED at the end of the facial supports the calming and regenerative response. Available as a £40 add-on.

JetPeel
the two work at different layers and by different means; alternating them across a month produces better skin quality than either alone.

SkinPen Elite Microneedling
Facials between microneedling sessions support skin condition and improve overall course outcomes. Particularly useful for patients on the Collagen Rebuild programme.

Skin Boosters
A facial 1–2 weeks before Profhilo prepares skin for the injectable; a facial 1–2 weeks after extends the hydration and quality work happening from within.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have a facial during pregnancy?
Yes, some brands are specifically formulated to be safe during pregnancy. We'll guide you to the right protocol at consultation if you're pregnant or trying to conceive.
Will a facial fix my acne?
For mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne, facial protocols can produce meaningful improvement, particularly over a course of 4–6 sessions paired with appropriate home care.
For severe acne, cystic acne, or acne that hasn't responded to over-the-counter treatments, clinical facials are part of the answer but typically need to be combined with medical-grade interventions (prescribed topicals, oral medication). We'll be honest about what's realistic at consultation.
Is there any downtime?
None. Mild flush for up to an hour after some protocols is normal but settles. You can wear makeup, return to work, and resume normal activities immediately. Many patients schedule clinical facials during a lunch break.
How often should I have a clinical facial?
Depends on what you're addressing. For a specific concern (acne, rosacea, pigmentation), a course of 6 facials at 3–4 week intervals followed by monthly maintenance is typical.
For general skin maintenance, monthly facials work well. For long-term skin investment, we'd often recommend rotating clinical facials with JetPeel and other supporting treatments across a quarter.
Are advanced facials worth it compared to good home skincare?
This is a fair and important question. Excellent home skincare consistently used produces meaningful results — and is foundational.
Facials add to that foundation: higher active concentrations than retail products, professional application (better penetration, lymphatic work, exfoliation), and access to professional-only ranges. The combination of good home care plus regular facials produces meaningfully better outcomes than either alone. Without good home care, professional facials are less effective; without, even good home care has ceilings.
What's the difference between an advanced facial and JetPeel?
Both are non-procedural skin treatments, but they use different mechanisms.
Advanced facials use professional product ranges applied manually with massage, lymphatic work and structured protocols. JetPeel uses patented pressurised oxygen and saline to deliver actives without skin contact. They produce different but complementary outcomes, many patients do both, alternating across a month or course. Speak to us at consultation about which is more appropriate for your specific concerns.
Do I need to commit to a course?
No, single facials are absolutely available and produce visible single-session results. Courses (3 or 6 sessions) typically deliver more meaningful change and offer better value per session, particularly for specific concerns (acne, rosacea, pigmentation) that benefit from sustained intervention.
Will I see results after one facial?
Yes, visible improvement in skin hydration, brightness, clarity and surface texture is normal after a single session. Whether those results are sustained depends on home care and whether you book another session. Single-session improvements largely settle back to baseline within 2 weeks; course-based work compounds.
